Yuvan Bothysathuvar, born in 1975, is an Indian artist known for his innovative exploration of duality and relative existence in his works. Initially trained under J.P. Krishna, Yuvan began his career painting large 50-feet portrait billboards of actors and politicians. After earning his MFA in Fine Arts, he traveled extensively to places like Dubai, France, and the Netherlands, where he absorbed various cultural influences that profoundly shaped his artistic style.
Yuvan’s art is characterized by visual illusions, colour-shifting effects, and multiple planes that stack memories, creating a balanced and complete composition. His unique approach has been recognized with several accolades, including a research scholarship from the Lalit Kala Akademi in 2010 and the Best College Art Emerging Artist Award in 2013, which included a residency in Scotland.
He held his first solo exhibition in 2009 at Apparao Gallery in Chennai and later exhibited at William Grand & Son Gallery in Scotland. Yuvan has also participated in numerous group shows both in India and internationally, earning acclaim for his distinctive artistic vision.
