Wilm Wouters (February 6, 1887, The Hague – February 22, 1957, Amsterdam) was a distinguished Dutch painter known for his figurative style. He studied at the Rijksakademie from 1909 to 1914 under the guidance of Nicolaas van der Waay and Antoon Derkinderen. Wouters initially lived and worked in Amsterdam but spent a significant period in Volendam from 1918 to 1925, where he focused on painting interiors and figures, including his well-known depictions of church pews with Volendammers.
In the 1920s, Wouters expanded his repertoire to include realistic still lifes and floral compositions, while continuing to focus on figures and portraits. He also illustrated and designed the book cover for M.J. Brusse's On the Island. Langbroek op Marken (1923). His works are showcased in the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and are part of the collection at Hotel Spaander in Volendam. Additionally, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands holds eleven of his paintings.
Wouters was one of the three "painter sons-in-law" of Leendert Spaander, the proprietor of the famous Hotel Spaander. He married Conny, Spaander's seventh daughter, in 1919. Wouters’ legacy endures through his diverse and evocative body of work.
