Veenita Chendvankar is a visual artist whose work unfolds through layered, narrative compositions that draw from mythology, memory, and lived experience. Working primarily with acrylic, she has developed a distinctive technique of building softly textured surfaces through multiple layers of pigment, creating atmospheric backdrops against which her figures emerge and interact.
Her paintings are populated by hybrid beings, part human, part animal set within lush, imagined landscapes. These worlds reflect a deep connection to nature, where flora, fauna, and mythic presence coexist fluidly. Through this visual language, Chendvankar explores ideas of harmony, transformation, and the interconnectedness of life.
Her practice is informed by an early engagement with Indian folk and traditional art forms, including Madhubani, Warli, and Gond, as well as the narrative richness of miniature painting and mural traditions. She also draws inspiration from the Ganjifa painting heritage of Sawantwadi, her native region. Trained in fine art with a specialisation in mural design, and mentored by her father, artist Sadguru Chendvankar, she brings a strong focus on colour and technique to her work.
