    Tom Vattakuzhy, born in Kerala in 1967, is an artist known for his paintings, prints, and illustrations. His art blends reality with imagination, creating thought-provoking compositions. Growing up, he showed talent in art and later pursued formal education. Initially, he taught art but eventually chose to focus solely on his artistic career.

    In 1991, he joined Kalabhawan, Santiniketan, graduating in printmaking in 1996. His interactions with renowned artists and exposure to diverse art styles influenced his approach. After earning a master's degree from M.S. University of Baroda in 1998, he reevaluated his artistic perspective, leading to a more structured and organized visual language.

    Vattakuzhy's commitment to art led him to illustrate periodicals, aiming to make art accessible to society. However, a controversy led to the withdrawal of one of his works, causing him to abandon this venture in 2016. Despite setbacks, his historical painting 'Death of Gandhi' gained national recognition, appearing on the cover of the Kerala budget in 2020.

    Throughout his career, he has received awards like the AIFACS Award (1997, 1998), Kerala Lalita Kala Academy Award (1997), National Scholarship (1996), and Haren Das Award (1995). He currently resides and works in Muvattupuzha, Kerala.
