Teresa Brutcher

Teresa Brutcher, born in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1955, is an accomplished artist currently based in the North of Spain. Her artistic journey began with a BA in Studio Art from the University of California, Davis, followed by continued studies at the University of San Fernando in Madrid. Collaborating at "Grupo 15" in Madrid, she honed her skills in etching and lithography, setting the foundation for her early career.

Returning to the US in the early 80s, Brutcher transitioned to teaching while favoring graphite and colored pencil drawing. Exhibiting in galleries and museums across Arizona, she embarked on a dedicated exploration of figurative oil paintings for over three decades. Represented by prestigious galleries like Ceferino Navarro, The Blueant Gallery, and Espacio 36, Brutcher's art resonates internationally.

Teresa Brutcher's figurative realism delves into the human experience, capturing subjects from internal and external perspectives. Her narratives unfold through literary symbols or meticulously constructed stages, exploring universal themes of folly, fear, joy, defiance, and submission.
