    Taron Marukyan

Born in 1989 in Armenia, Taron is a contemporary artist whose expressions are minimalistic and abstract. His paintings have been featured in national and international exhibitions in Italy and Germany.

Taron's paintings are large-scale in size, encapsulating an entire frame of the work. They are equipped with contrasting colours over an extensive division of the space. The repetition of the color, shape, line, texture, gesture, and movement is a benchmark of Taron's oeuvre. Taron tries to maintain visual balance with bold brush strokes and colours, charged with spontaneity. Despite the sheer boldness, his artistic practice showcases control of the medium, which he has achieved over the period. He majorly works in oil on canvas. Taron's painting has a proactive linearity ensued by the flat brush on canvas. Such drawing divides the painting into masses of negative and positive space. And he also uses the hues of blue, red, yellow, and green which initiates a dialogue with the viewer.

According to Taron, one can perceive the black shade or nothing. It depends on one's perspective and observations. Some of the paintings consist of the 'Tic-tac-toe, knots and crosses' drawn with a flat brush. At the same time, a few works consist of aggressive and broken strokes. All the drawing and handling of the brushes in vigorous or control is done in the black shade on the off-white canvas or vice-versa for a selected group of paintings.
