In 2021, he clinched the StateoftheART Gallery Award, leading to a solo exhibition titled 'Birth of the Alter Natural' in 2022. Currently pursuing a master's in design and studio art, Mqeku's research focuses on the use of sand casting as a ceramic studio technique and its adaptation to public creative practice and various fabrication technologies. His impactful journey underscores his commitment to pushing artistic boundaries, resulting in global recognition and a unique voice in contemporary South African art.
