Nareen Nath is an Indian artist renowned for his distinctive contributions to abstraction, particularly through his nuanced exploration of colour and space. Born in Maharashtra in 1937, he studied fine art in Indore before earning a Diploma from the Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, in 1960. Over the course of his career, he has received recognition from institutions including the Lalit Kala Akademi and the Government of Madhya Pradesh. His works are held in prominent collections such as the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Lalit Kala Akademi, and the Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation.

Nath’s paintings are characterised by expansive fields of colour built through subtle tonal variations and delicate gradations. Often centred around a dominant hue, his compositions create a sense of depth and atmosphere, with floating forms and soft transitions suggesting movement within vast, open spaces.
