Nadezda Stupina

Nadezda Stupina is a contemporary artist based in Norway whose vibrant, expressive paintings celebrate colour, emotion, and the beauty of the natural world. Originally from Oryol in Russia, she trained and worked as a textile designer before dedicating herself to painting full-time in 2004. She later moved to Norway in 2010, where she continues to live and work.

Stupina works across a range of media, including oil, acrylic, pastel, paper, canvas, cardboard, plexiglass, and textile. Her paintings are characterised by bold colour palettes, energetic brushwork, and richly textured surfaces that bring together dreamlike landscapes, floral still lifes, and portraits. Drawing inspiration from the Impressionist tradition, particularly the works of Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh, she creates compositions that balance spontaneity with a strong decorative sensibility.

At the heart of Stupina's practice is a belief that painting is an extension of the self. Her works reflect her personality, emotions, and outlook on life, inviting viewers into immersive worlds filled with light, movement, and colour. Collected internationally, her paintings seek to evoke optimism and wonder while celebrating the expressive possibilities of paint.
