M. Sivanesan

M. Sivanesan, born in Madras (now Chennai) in 1940, is a distinguished Indian artist known for his evocative figurative compositions. He graduated from the Madras Government College of Arts and Crafts in 1956 and quickly established himself as a significant figure in the Indian art scene. Rather than making profound statements, Sivanesan's works reflect his personal moods and emotions, believing that his canvas speaks more powerfully than words. His art is characterized by a subtle colour palette and a deep fascination with the human form, portraying the inner beauty and essence of his subjects.

Sivanesan's artistic journey has seen his works exhibited widely both in India and internationally. Notable exhibitions include those in Bangkok (1976), Los Angeles (1977), Ottawa (1978), and major cities like New York and Washington DC (1979). His achievements include winning an award at the International Inter Church in New York in 1962. Sivanesan continues to create art from his studios in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, remaining a vital force in contemporary Indian art.
