A German artist of the academic realist tradition, Joseph Emanuel Weiser (1847-1911) was born in Munich, Germany. He studied art at the Munich Academy under the guidance of Wilhelm von Diez, the famous German painter and illustrator from the Munich Academy. Weiser made a number of study trips through Germany, Austria and Italy before settling down in Munich.
