Jacques Deperthes

Jacques Deperthes (b. 1936, Suresnes, France) is a French painter and printmaker known for his hauntingly realistic landscapes. His quiet compositions—featuring empty golf courses, rural architecture, and stark winter trees—are marked by a profound stillness and an eerie absence of human life. Trained in Geneva, where he held his first exhibition in 1961, Deperthes has developed a visual language that captures solitude and silence with striking precision. His works are part of esteemed public collections, including the Musée de la Ville de Paris and Les Musées d’art et d’histoire, Geneva. He currently lives and works between France and Switzerland.
