    Ion Vacareanu

Ion Vacareanu is a contemporary Romanian artist who paints on a number of themesan amalgamation of his personal experiences and subjective interpretation of life and world. Rendering in the style of abstraction, the use of colour is very influential in his artistic idiom.

Born 1985 in Brasov, Romania, Vacareanu has had quite a detailed formal education in art. He studied monumental painting at an art college in Brasov Romania. Further, he studied painting at the Faculty of Art and Design at Western University, Timișoara, Romania.

Vacareanu’s work is dynamic, exciting, edgy and surreal. One cannot limit it or pin it down to a particular style or lingo. Diverse and myriad, his abstract artworks depict swirling patterns in colours that seem like an expression of the artist’s subconscious and contemplation on the act of painting itself. Essentially, it is like a playful examination of the process of engaging with colours and the transitory changes they develop during the process. Vacareanu has also done paintings depicting global pop culture icons. A particular painting of him depicts the famous Mickey Mouse.

Many of Vacareanu’s artworks seem like a jumbled maze of multiple elements. Highly abstract, these works represent a sense of something gone by, perhaps a childhood memory or the fleeting nature of moments. Here again colour emerges as a very important component of Vacareanu’s work. The use of colour gives perspective to many of these creative expressions.

Vacareanu is also known for his monochrome series depicting dancers in various poses. Each painting is a surreal representation of the sense of freedom, fun and pure joy that dance brings. Vacareanu’s works have been exhibited in countries like Germany, Austria and Romania.
