Guo Weixin

Master at oil painting, Guo Weixin was born in Qiqihar in the Heilongjiang Province of China. Weixin finished his training from the art department of Qiqihar Normal University of the Sichuan Fine Art Institute in 1986 followed by the graduation in oil painting from Sichuan Fine Art Institute in 1996. Later, he became an associate professor at the same institute. Weixin’s work has been exhibited internationally on multiple occasions.

Having a dark shade to his palette, Weixin develops a story within his canvas, often portrayed by deeper shades of brown and black. Empty yet charged, Weixin draws his inspiration from the communist background of his nation, channeling the same energy into his artwork. Weixin’s depictions radiate a sense of alienation, from society and from within, as the subjects of his paintings seem to be lost in translation. From landscapes to scenes from life with symbols of self and solidarity, Weixin’s oeuvre sees extensive versatility.

Weixin’s artworks have been exhibited throughout the world. His album “Masterpiece-Oil Landscape” was published by Sichuan Art Publisher and a notable piece “Winter of Yuxi” was displayed at an exhibition by the China Oil Painting Association. He is immortalized by his work, as is cherished in the collections of Taiwan Mountain Art Foundation.
