    Francesco D'Adamo

Francesco D'Adamo is an Italian painter and musician, known for abstract expressionist artworks that capture the sublime, and flowing patterns of music. The intricacies of musical movements find expression in his works through the subtle use of diverse colours and his unique interpretations of dancing and twirling musical notes.

Born 1979 in Siena, Italy, D'Adamo took private lessons in art during his childhood. Subsequently, he got preoccupied with other things and it was only in 2010 that he returned to art, making it a full-time and serious pursuit. D’Adamo‘s work draws inspiration from an eclectic range of influences including artistic movements like Lyrical Abstraction and Informalism. Also, he has been inspired by the works of Alberto Burri and the American Expressionist painter, Willem de Kooning.

As a musician himself, D’Adamo is deeply interested in exploring the dynamics of the interconnectedness of two genres, giving expression to the resultant, and sublime flux that is chaotic and harmonious simultaneously.

Being bold attempts, his works are characterized by broad, sweeping brush strokes and a highly pigmented colour palette. In fact, he is particular about hand grinding pigments himself for mixing colours. A recurring feature of his abstract paintings is the opaque and intense black and fading contours that define specific composite forms. The characteristic use of this black pigment marks the visual mapping of musical consciousness. However, the emerging density of his oeuvre is permanent and consistent!

D'Adamo has exhibited extensively in Italy and other locations across the world including Luxembourg, Hong Kong and Stockholm. He is a regular exhibitor at the Affordable Art Fair of Hong Kong.

Francesco D'Adamo currently lives and works in Bologna, Italy.
