    Emil Aziz

Born Azerbaijan, Emil Aziz is an impressionist oil painter and son of a well-known artist, Reflik Aziz. His body of work can be divided into three major categories: Landscapes, Figurative and Creative. Boldly handled rich colours and glamorous figures as qualitative pictorials on canvas define Emil’s paintings! Most importantly, in 2014, his paintings were exhibited at the prestigious VERA World of Fine Art Festival.

Emil’s works have been shown in some of the most eminent art galleries in Portugal, Turkey and Azerbaijan. He has received multiple awards such as the Certificate Award of The First International Turkish Grameen Microcredit Art Biennale, Fighting Poverty in the World in Ankara, to name a few.

Emil’s landscapes sought to arrest the atmosphere of a particular time and weather. He emphasizes the overall essence and atmosphere of a landscape above the nitty-gritty of details, specifically rendering human forms. Emil’s figurations are reflective of different human experiences and emotions depicted by extensive use of purple, white and blue, which unite the modelling of figures dressed in fashionable clothes. Scenes from the bourgeois carefree lifestyle as well as the world of entertainment, such as cafés, dance halls, and theatres are among Emil’s favourite subjects.

He commands viewers’ attention with highly coloured and texturally varied methods of oil-paint application. Flecks and dabs of purely harmonizing or contrasting hues evoke broken-hued brilliance. Emil takes artistic freedom in the casual and less contrived disposition of objects within the picture frame. It is evident through Old Bazaar, 2010, one of Emil’s known artworks, wherein he prefered sharper outlines and had exaggerated contrasts, often placing dark and light together. Emil’s artworks envelop the viewer in a movement of life as if seized by a snapshot.

Emil Aziz works and resides in Turkey.
