Doddridge Busingye, born in 1990 and based in Kampala, Uganda, is a dynamic artist with a Master's Degree in Fine Art from Makerere University (2019) and a Bachelor's Degree in Art and Industrial Design from Kyambogo University (2015). His work transcends local and international boundaries, addressing sociopolitical, economic, and gender complexities. Rooted in personal experiences, family, relationships, and societal observations, Busingye's art actively engages with the post-independence struggles in Uganda. His compositions, marked by vibrant hues and poised figures, serve as a medium for self-exploration and expression. Drawing inspiration from poetry, music, and film, he encapsulates his thoughts into titles, creating a rich interplay of abstract concepts and emotions. Busingye's portraits, often featuring dark bodies painted with vivid colors, reflect the diverse palette of his experiences. Growing up in Kampala since the 1990s, he keenly observes and interprets the transformations in gender dynamics, urbanization, and multiparty politics, shaping the core of his artistic exploration.
