C.J Anthony Doss

Born in 1933, Anthony Doss an artist from Chennai, celebrated for his evocative depictions of women. A child prodigy, he joined the Government School of Arts & Crafts at just 13, where he studied under luminaries like K.C.S. Paniker. His illustrious career saw him excel as a painter and teacher, eventually becoming the school’s principal. Renowned for his ability to bring painted figures to life, Doss often portrays women with a sensuous vitality, capturing their flowing forms in natural landscapes or intimate interiors. Deeply moved by the beauty of women, Doss considers their depiction the ultimate artistic challenge, believing his creations exude a life of their own. Now in his 90s, he continues to work with silent dedication, crafting romantic oil paintings inspired by Kerala and Tamil Nadu's cultural essence.
