    Aza Mansongi

“No one can evolve alone, everyone needs someone else.”

Aza Mansoni’s oeuvre is replete with modernist tendencies that tread from cubist leanings to cancelling its repetitions. Born in the democratic republic of Congo, Aza’s artworks remark on the reality of the multiverse–a world of multiple lives and phenomena. Aza was trained in a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Academie des Beaux arts de Kinshasa, the art school of Kinshasa. She has exclusively and extensively exhibited at national and international exhibitions in France, Switzerland and the USA. Aza practised painting and sculpture. Meandering over strong contours, Aza opines that they are the dance of the lines. Specifically, her oeuvre epitomises the necessity, belonging and surrender to the moment.

Evolving from complex human relationships, Aza aspires to paint daily scenes through a creative twist. She attempts at generating a personal style of merging all the psychological movements. The moment in her painting is still but moves within the visual play of formal arrangements. The faces of the figures create an enigmatic stance of presence and absence. Are these flickers of the artist’s mind? Or do they look at you with a faceless attribute, devoid of sensory organs? More importantly, she depicts the Congolese environment in a lyrical method. They are existential poems to be read with an aware mind.

Aza’s artworks are a part of several noted private collections in Africa and the world. Aza Mansoni is based in Douala in Cameroon.
