Born 1992 in Wroclaw, Poland, Agata Żychlińska trained in art from the Academy of Fine Art in Gdansk. She later moved to Wroclaw in need of a new artistic environment. Agata paints the intimate world she lives in and the people that surround her.
Expressing her personal experiences with a key factor being communication, she denotes a clear indication of the surrounding life. Whether it be intimate and personal relationships or public and professional, they form the building block of our life, and how we communicate define our own experiences. Even though Agata’s depictions aren’t realistic in terms of their appearance, the essence that she manages to capture is as real as it gets. Universally relatable, emotions like anger, joy, loneliness, etc. become a centre stage to her renditions. Her work is about understanding a language that isn’t spoken or written, but observed and understood on a sentimental level. Her vivid palette and playfulness hide away some of the negativity under layers of joy.
Agata had been a nominee of the Palm Art Award for multiple years. Her works have been exhibited in multiple countries and owned by private collectors in Poland, the UK, Taiwan, India, USA and Germany. An observation of beauty that’s hidden and concealed in day-to-day life, her oeuvre hints at romanticism.
