    Ablade Glover

    Born in 1934, Ablade Glover is a Ghanaian artist and art educator. His works are in collections in various international institutions. To name a few, the Imperial Palace Collection of Japan, the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, Tel Aviv, Israel and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport are some of the important names which own Glover’s artworks. He is a recipient of the AFGRAD Alumni Award by the African-American Institute in New York, and a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Art in London.

    Glover has received his training from Ghana, the UK and the USA. Equipped with varied cultural knowledge, he is a celebrated artist in Ghana, receiving major acclaim internationally. Painted in oil, his works display vibrant colour palettes. Although Glover paints landscapes and urban scapes, they hinge on expressionistic values, where colour moves beyond the realistic realms. The scenes of Ghanaian locals like busy streets and marketplaces are prevalent recurrences steeped in vibrant demeanour. At first glance, his paintings appear as patches of colour and abstract impressions, which gradually reveal, through the windows and doors of impastoed pigments, the vivacious Ghanian life. 

    The artist has extensively exhibited his works around the world in West Africa, Europe, the USA and Japan.He is the Founder and Director of the Artist Alliance Gallery in Accra Ghana.
